Extra Virgin Olive Oil vs Canola Oil, Which One is Better?
Hi, Friends of SlimGourmet! For some people who are practicing healthy lifestyle, must be familiar with olive oil and canola oil. Yet some people still debate which oil is better for cooking. In this newsletter, SlimGourmet will try to explain it.
Oil contents three types of fat which are saturated fat, monounsaturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat. Both of olive oil and canola oil has a little content of saturated fat, it is about 6%. However, if we see the details in monounsaturated fat category, olive oil has higher content than canola oil, which has 82% of monounsaturated fat while canola oil has 60% of monounsaturated fat. Therefore olive oil is good for your heart and can help to decrease cholesterol level.
It is better to use olive oil without heating or cooking process such as making salad dressing or sauce dipping to optimize its health effect. Besides, canola oil can be used for frying because it has higher smoke point than olive oil.
However, do you know that other good oils such as soybean oil, sunflower oil, and sesame oil also has high good fat content in it? Therefore, those oils are also good for heart and can be a good choice for you. Eventhough all of those oils are good, we still have to restrict its consumption because oil has high calorie content. We have to be aware about it to keep weight on track.
