Tofu: The Healthy Choice of Plant-Based Protein

Hi friends of SlimGourmet! Tofu is a food source that can be easily obtained. Its cheap price, ease to cook, and great taste are some reasons to choose tofu as a plant-based protein to add to your meal plan. Some popular types of tofu include silken and firm tofu.

Tofu is a plant-based protein choice derived from soybeans. The amino acid content in tofu is important for us. These amino acids complement amino acid from animal-based protein. Additionally tofu is low calorie and contains some important micronutrients such as iron, calcium, zinc, and vitamin B1.

Generally, many people eat deep-fried and flour breaded tofu. These unhealthy cooking processes are high in fat and can lead to increased body fat. It is better to cook tofu with a little bit of oil (pan fried or sautéed). Alternatively, you can make desserts from tofu like one of SlimGourmet’s dessert menu tofu pudding.
