protein. Keto diet aims to lower your carbohydrate intake but increase your fat intake. Decreasing carbohydrate intake in our body makes our body metabolism change to a phase called ketosis, where our body burns fat instead of carbohydrate as a source of energy. This phase, along with high consumption of protein, stabilizes blood glucose levels and decreases insulin levels.

The dietary fat that should be consumed in the ketogenic diet are healthy poly and mono-unsaturated fats, such as those found in avocado, virgin coconut oil, egg, chicken, meat, salmon, almond, and yogurt. Aim for a percentage pf fat intake at 75%, with 20% protein and 5-10% carbohydrate. Some research shows that following a strict keto diet can give many health benefits, especially for body metabolism, neurology, and other diseases that are related to insulin.

The food and beverages that should be avoided are those that are high in sugar, carbohydrates or starch; for example soft drink, cake, ice cream, rice, pasta, carrot, and potato. Also try to avoid saturated fats from sources such as palm oil, lard or fat in innards animal meat.
